Despite not needing to, I recently clicked the "Forgot your password?" link on the Movable Type login page. I wanted to see what it would do to restore my password. It attempted to e-mail me, but because I hadn't set up MT to use e-mail, it failed. But my password was already changed. At this point I couldn't get back into MT, but I found a very nice tool. It's called MT-Medic and can be found here. I've also mirrored the tool on WebPageless here. Assuming you're able to put one file on your web server, this tool will allow you to fix many MT errors and allowed me to reset my password.
