Comments

Ahahaha I’m very happy.
I spent a while this morning working on a new site. Joseph wanted to be able to post on WebPageless so I sort of made him his own blog. He didn’t ask for one but… yeah. It’s here. Joseph, if you’re reading this, you can post messages basically the same way I explained to you earlier. Use the same address as well. Anyways, since I was spending so much time in MT, I decided to work on my no entry_id error when commenting.
I looked through some google results and found that it had to do with the CGI location in the mt.cfg file. I had a webpageless.net address in there, but it seems that mt-comments.cgi doesn’t like redirection. I changed it webpageless.cjb.net and things got better. Sure, webpageless.cjb.net instead of www.webpageless.net appears at the bottom of the screen while the comment is being processed, but that’s not such a big deal. But after adding a comment, the page didn’t rebuild correctly.
It was rebuilding using my “Total” template, which is the one that I reference using SSI on the archive page. It’s simply a list of categories, with links to each category page. The entry would update to that. I fooled around with it for a long time, and it seems to be working now.
I think it’s because I got to see Garden State.
Alright, it’s time for bed.

Entertainment To-Do List

I cleaned up and updated my To-Do List and renamed it to “Entertainment To-Do List.” It only had to do with entertainment anyways. I don’t know if I’ll keep it updated, but I removed the crap I don’t want to do. There’s a link to it on the left.

Movable Type Problems

At the top of every monthly archive page, the name of the current month is displayed. Haven’t figured out how to code the correct month yet.
When a comment is made on an entry, the message “An error occurred: No entry_id” appears. I don’t know how to fix it.
If you have a solution, please comment on this message.
Hah! I don’t actually expect help, especially not with the first problem. I haven’t spent much time investigating them yet.

No More ISP, Fallen Chopsticks

It seems my dad failed to tell me that we were $150 behind in our Earthlink bill. As of 1:00ish this morning, we no longer have an ISP. We’re probably not going to reactivate Earthlink. Verizon has a DSL / cell phone / Direct TV package that it looks like we’ll get. From sign up, it takes five days to activate, and we’re not signing up today. If we were to sign up Friday, I’d have Internet access on Wednesday if weekends are counted. It seems funny to write this because by the time anyone reads this on WebPageless everything will be okay again.
I’m going to continue making entries despite WebPageless being down. I’m also writing in notepad because my intranet doesn’t seem to be working either, lol. I can’t get Zot to see Chopsticks. This might be due to the router in the middle, but I really don’t know.
I knocked Chopsticks down last night. When I picked her up a half hour or so later, I noticed that her screen was cracked multiple times. The screen already didn’t work though. However, it was off. I turned it back on. It turned back off a few minutes later. I really thought I broke Chopsticks for good. Yeah, later I noticed that her brick got unplugged. Electronics need electricity. Stupid me.

MT-Medic

Despite not needing to, I recently clicked the “Forgot your password?” link on the Movable Type login page. I wanted to see what it would do to restore my password. It attempted to e-mail me, but because I hadn’t set up MT to use e-mail, it failed. But my password was already changed. At this point I couldn’t get back into MT, but I found a very nice tool. It’s called MT-Medic and can be found here. I’ve also mirrored the tool on WebPageless here. Assuming you’re able to put one file on your web server, this tool will allow you to fix many MT errors and allowed me to reset my password.
