Wired Interview with Suda51

Wired did a nice interview with Suda51 about his new game, produced by Shinji Mikami. Suda51 was director and writer for killer7 and No More Heroes, while Shinji Mikami was the director of God Hand, executive producer of killer7, director or producer of each Resident Evil title, executive producer of Devil May Cry, and most importantly, director of P.N. 03 and game designer of Goof Troop.
The article doesn’t say anything about the new title itself but talks a little of this new partnership.

Suda51 at it Again

Suda51 has a new survival horror game announced with Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami if Joystiq is to be believed. While I do like Suda51, I’m not sure I’m hot on this. Resident Evil, eh?

Braid Fastest Selling XBLA Title

Braid: tearing up Metacritic; one of the top XBLA launches, Joystiq, 8/12/08
Braid, the terrific and beautiful puzzle platformer, sold over 28,000 copies in the first three days of its launch, over 3000 more than the previous leader, Rez HD. The puzzles are very inherent in the game, much more like Portal than jumping puzzles in Mega Man or simply “solve this puzzle before continuing.”
I can’t wait to finish it!

Playing this week

Most of my time has still been devoted towards PVPing in World of Warcraft. We’re having a good time just staying at 39. I also picked up Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and finished the single player on medium. It’s really cool because it follows this history of the band and includes interviews with the members. Braid came out this week on XBLA, and it’s truly amazing. The art style and music are superb, the puzzle-solving time-manipulating platforming is awesome, the story is intriguing so far, and the nods to other games are nice. I think this game will be really memorable when I finish it. I’ve been playing Baldur’s Gate a little bit too but haven’t progressed too much.
And that’s it for this week!

What I’m Playing

What have I been playing lately? Most of my time has been spent playing World of Warcraft. Devee, my troll priest is now 39, and I’ve been PVPing a lot. I bought every item that I need for my level as well as a couple level 40 pieces. As soon as I get bored of PVPing, I’ll go back to PVE, but for now I’m enjoying it!
The other game I’ve been playing heavily is Overlord, which is very fun. It’s an action adventure game with some RPG elements for Xbox 360 in which you’re an evil overlord and must kill the heroes who killed your predecessor. You have an alignment that can go from evil to eviler, and you control many minions to kill enemies. Very fun.
I’ve also been playing Azure Dreams some, usually during lulls in PVP or when I’m about to sleep. I was putting some time into getting all the secret reports in The World Ends With You, but it began to get to the point where I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do so I’ve been putting less time into it.
Returning to N+ yesterday, I now only have five more episodes to finish. I also picked up Guitar Hero 3 a bit more. I finished my first hard mode song, and I also got a perfect run of a song for the first time on I Am Murloc in normal mode.
Baldur’s Gate sputtered back to life, and I past the mines. I know that’s not very far, but I’m completed tons of the extra areas already and am higher level than I should be for where I am.

Squadcast Revelations

I’ve been behind on Squadcast, a podcast that I’ve enjoyed for a long time. Because I’m behind, I know that the show eventually dies because Scott and Bryan, the two main creators, need to put more time into Level Up, their Sirius radio video game show. When they first started it, they included some episodes in the Squadcast feed. I just caught up to that and was surprised to find out that Larry from Squadcast, a regular and someone I really liked, is actually Major Nelson of Xbox fame (Xbox Live Director of Programming)! Very cool!
Level Up also had Patrick Seybold, a PR guy for the PS3 and according to Wikipedia, Director of Corporate Communications & Social Media for SCE, as a guest. He said that Blu-Ray are the highest quality DVDs. Hate to break it to you idiot, but BRDs are not DVDs. He also went on to say that the PS3 can rip and burn our CDs to its HDD. Burn to the HDD? Then he said that you could play that music while playing PS3 games. Again, is this guy an idiot? You can now, but this episode is from December 2006. What the hell? Then he said that the PS3 has a build in wireless router. Wireless router? I don’t think so. The PS3 apparently also has incremental improvements over the PS2. Incremental improvements, eh?
This guy doesn’t know his own product!
