Today I went to the Discovery Science Center off the 5 in Santa Ana with gem. It was really fun. All the exhibits are science related (and made for kids, heh). There’s a wave generator, high wind chamber, geyser, tornado making machine, a bed of nails, and lots of fun stuff. The bed of nails left marks on me. Plus, there’s a Taco Bell inside. Pretty great, no? The volunteers were really friendly too. Fun day!

Black Man Face
When I was little, I once ran over to a black man, grabbed his arm, and started rubbing it. He kneeled down, looking at me, and I reached up and rubbed my hands all over his face. My mom ran over and started frantically apologizing. He asked her “am I the first black he’s seen?” My mom realized that he was. I was just amazed at his skin color.
Hey
I guess it’s time I post again. It’s been almost four months since the last time I made a post. School went well in the spring. I got an A+, A-, and a B+. I joined Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society. I don’t really think there was any reason to join other than to look good on paper. But, it wasn’t that much work to join anyways.
Working at Albertsons has been good. I got promoted a couple weeks ago so now I’m cashiering. It pays better. Ironically, I also put in my two weeks notice. There’s a lot of drama at Albertsons, and I’d rather work somewhere less stressful and time consuming. I’m taking a job in the Campus Village computer lab. Antonio already works there and says it’s great.
Since summer started, I hadn’t really been at my apartment… much… at all. I’ve been staying with my gf mostly. Herbert was going to rent my spot in CV from me but ended up finding somewhere better after it was too late for me to find someone else. He ended up paying for the rent for the month of June, and then I took over after that. I didn’t actually move in until a week or so ago because my lease at my old place didn’t end until August 31st. Everything, for the most part, is all unpacked, and I really like it there. Before I moved in, Andrew had a roommate named Ton who they apparently hated. He smoked pot in the house all the time, covering the smoke detectors, had sex in his room and the living room (thus locking people in/out of their rooms), and wouldn’t stop having large numbers of people over for parties, even after Antonio said he especially couldn’t since he worked for CV. Andrew called the cops on him eventually, and Ton was reassigned to a different apartment. He ended up being assigned to Johny’s place. Johnny lives in the same building as me and is a cashier at Albertsons too. He gets along well with Ton so I guess things worked out, because our replacement, Angel, seems like an alright guy.
During Summer Session I, I took CSE 70A – Network Analysis, which is a class on analyzing circuits. I heard it was really hard, and while it wasn’t impossible, I kept ditching class because I was so tired from work. I didn’t think I’d get a good grade so I bombed the final on purpose so I could just retake the class. In Summer Session II, which I’m still in now, I’m taking Anthro 2A. It’s actually really interesting. I think I enjoy it more than gem, Jin, or Tony, and that’s kind of surprising.
I bought a Nintendo DS Lite a few months back. I now have 10 games, and they’re all really good. I think the DS is a really great console, and I’m very glad I purchased it. I’ve also been playing Baldur’s Gate lately, although I’m not very far yet. For some reason, I could never get into Baldur’s Gate 2, but I’m really enjoying 1. Maybe after having played 1 I’ll like 2 more. I’ve also been playing Dungeons & Dragons a lot. Andy’s running a Forgotten Realms campaign in which I play a level 3 Paladin. It doesn’t seem like he wants to play much though because he always wants the whole group to be present. I also started a campaign in Eberron, which is a pretty interesting setting. I have 4 players, and it’s been fun so far.
Koalas!
It’s been a while since I posted.
First off, Spring break was good. I don’t really remember what I did. I know I beat Sonic 1 on Genesis and Sonic 1, 2, and 3 on PS2. I beat Katamari Damacy also. Alex came to visit, which was great. It’s good to see old friends. Even got to see Darnell too. They make a great couple. I had some dental work done. A couple fillings and a crown. I crown’s in the back on a tooth that used to hurt a shit load. It doesn’t hurt at all now. Sadly, I’ve had bad toothaches lately in a front tooth. I’ve been taking ibuprofen all the time for it.
School’s going well this quarter. I’m only taking 12 units – Classics 45C (Greek/Roman mythology), Math 6C (linear algebra), and Psych 9C (dumb). I’m also joining Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honors society. It’s been cool so far I guess. I gave tours and talks to prospective UCI students about a month back. Also, two weeks ago I volunteered at a soup kitchen. It was… interesting. No one really washed their hands ever. It didn’t seem very sanitary.
I’m working at Albertson’s now as a courtesy clerk. It’s alright too. Tiring sometimes, but money’s money, and I really like some of the people there. I s’pose mainly Duncan and Andy, but I’m meeting new people and liking them too.
I started playing WoW again.
Antonio and I picked our exact CV apartment for next year. We get it at the beginning of summer, but I’m subleasing to Herbert over the summer until mid-September. This brings up a problem. For some reason, our 12-month lease on the apartment we’re living in now – the one we got around September 29 of last year – ends on August 31, 2006. That doesn’t seem like 12 months to me. I’ll have to squeeze me in with Herbert and Antonio for two weeks. Dartmouth didn’t even give us the option of resigning. Too many (two) noise complaints. Assholes. Patrick’s going to be out of the country for August and doesn’t want to have to move out in July and pay for a month that he’s not going to use so he wants us to break our lease a month early if they’ll let us. I don’t want that. I can’t squeeze in with Tony and Herb for that long, can I? I don’t even know if my other roommates will allow it. But Will wanted to ask them to extend it two weeks for us. I don’t know if they’ll do that considering they already want us out.
I also had an interview with CV about jobs for next year. I don’t know if I want them though. I’m liking Albertson’s.
I want to buy a PSP soon.
I’ve been reading the Well World Saga by Jack L. Chalker. It’s a good series.
Birthday
My birthday was great!
gem took me to the San Diego Zoo on Monday and had me drive. The drive was okay actually. And the zoo was amazingly fun! We saw so many cool animals. The pandas were adorable, especially the baby who napped in the tree. There was a hippo who lounged on a rock under water, coming up for air. When he decided to leave the rock he just rolled off of it and hit the bottom of the water/pool head first. It was pretty funny. I really enjoyed it. I’ll post pictures of all the animals some time. I had such a great time with her! We also did some shopping in San Diego and stuff like that. Great time!
She also got me some facial scrub, aftershave, and moisturizer. Now my face is very soft, lol. I like it! She got me body wash and a mesh sponge. My dad got me a cool book on creation stories from various peoples and a silk shirt, my mom got me a suit, sports coat, belt, tie, and two shirts, and James got me a Star Wars poster.
ZOO! I wish I knew where to post the pictures. This post has been a draft since my birthday so I might as well post it now!
Drunken Colin, Will Being an Ass
Patrick and Colin came home totally wasted the other day while gem was sleeping and I was reading. I heard them talking and being loud, and then I heard Colin leave. Patrick came in, and we talked a bit. Apparently, Colin had decided to kick gem’s flip-flops off of the balcony at the front door. We searched but never could find one of them. Colin never apoligized.
Also, I left Saturday night, and when I came back on Sunday, Will had moved gem’s lotion from the coffee table to the floor next to the trash can, where we usually put trash that doesn’t fit in the can. He claims it had been on the coffee table for long enough – two days.
gem’s birthday
Yesterday was gem’s birthday!
First, on the 21st, Allison, gem, and I went to Boomer’s. It was $10 for unlimited miniature golf and arcade games. It was a lot of fun. DDR was broken when I tried, and later fixed, so that kind of sucks. But still, arcade games rock! gem and I played air hockey, and she beat me, and Allison and I played some fun drumming game. Man, drumming games are great. We also played a game of mini golf, but didn’t keep score or play the holes in order. gem wanted to play a racing game with me, but most of them wouldn’t link, and the two that were linked were always in use. I’d love to go back sometime!
After they closed at 9 or 10, the three of us went to Del Taco for Taco Tuesday. I had 8 beef tacos and two chicken tacos. It was a lot of tacos, and I was really stuffed. After eating, we bought supplies to make chili cheese fries for later that night. It was Allison’s idea, and I didn’t know how I’d be able to eat more later.
We went back to gem’s/Allison’s and just chilled for a while. We made tasty strawberry smoothies, and then watched Rent. We also ate chili cheese fries while watching, and I was very surprised I was able to eat. Rent was a really good movie; I see why Allison likes it so much. I gave gem We <3 Katamari, which she liked. And then sleep.
On her birthday we had to goto class and do crap like that. But after classes, we went to Seoul Garden (the three of us again) for lunch. Tasty tasty! I can't believe how much I've eaten lately. I tried beef heart and beef liver. The heart was okay, but I didn't really like the liver very much.
And that's all I have to say 'bout that.
Blog Entry 463 or 562
Hello.
I have class at eight. I’m not tired, but I know I’m going to be in the morning. Plus, I have to read the Odyssey tomorrow. Or maybe just hope to pass the test without reading it, which probably wouldn’t be too hard.
I broke my RAZR clean in two today. I managed to get bluetooth turned on though without looking at the screen. Luckily, both GSM and the BT both function without the screen-half of the phone… so I can make calls using the headset. And, in theory, receive, but I wouldn’t know who was calling. Hopefully my Palm alarm can wake me, because I can’t use my phone. Assuming that the insurance covers it (it’s supposed to cover accidental damage), it’ll only cost $50 to replace it.
The CSE 90 midterm was tonight. He decided to make it open note, which included the practice midterm. The midterm and practice midterm shared a whole bunch of questions that were word-for-word the same. Good times.
Wednesday night has become go-out-to-eat-with-gemma-and-Allison-night. It’s a very good night. It’s fun hanging out with Allison, and we hardly ever do.
Valentine’s Day
What a great day!
I made gemma four Valentine’s Day cards – one for each class she had, and I delivered them to her at the beginning of each class.
gem made me chocolate covered strawberries and truffles.
I bought her a dozen roses.
We ate at P. F. Chang’s and had garlic noodles, rice, roast duck, lamb, and hot and sour soup.
And we hugged lots.
Cards
Bought a deck of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children playing cards at the vendor fair on Friday. I like ’em.
