Life, The Universe and Everything

Harold should be off of our property within a week or two. I think he’ll put up a fight though. He’s trying to go into Sober Living (or something) so the story goes. Jamie (is that spelled right? and not my brother) goes to prison in a few days, but he’s done a lot of work on the wall so far. He’s going to start working on the roof as well. Homer’s been around, but I’m not sure what’s up with him. I think he’ll be leaving soon. He seems to group himself with Harold when they talk to me, but they don’t really get along anyways. Paco hasn’t been here in a few weeks. His daughter called the other day looking for him. She called him a different name, but I figured out who she wanted. When I told her that he hasn’t been here in a while and that I didn’t know when he was coming back, she said that that sounded just like him. Jamie’s mom would like to move into the back. Apparently, she’s had a steady job for years, has a car, and is pretty quiet. Hopefully, that’ll work out.
The wall has been rebuilt and is almost done being painted. The paint really doesn’t matter though. No one has begun work on the roof yet. Patty, Harold’s on-and-off girl friend, is going to work on the roof too. She’s done other work around here such as electrical and plumbing, and I know she’ll work if she says she will and will do a good job. However, that’s only if Harold’s still around and only if Harold and her are on good terms.
When my he got the license to do roof work, my dad had to talk to a city official. Apparently, the man was Greek, and they were friendly to each other. He said that the phone call about the roof was unofficial and that we have thirty days to fix the roof from the date we receive the letter saying we need to do so. We still haven’t received the letter. We’re unsure as to whether this is a normal delay or if the official is giving us time. I can’t make judgement because I wasn’t there to see if the man was actually treating my dad different than he treats anyone else.
We received the property tax bill yesterday. It was only the current one for the year, not the bill for the whole five years. And it says that if you don’t pay for five years, the state may take the house but not necessarily. Still, if he pays this one year, the unpaid bill will only be at four years, and we’ll be safe. I don’t know what he thinks will change in the future. He says that five years worth of the taxes will be about five thousand dollars. This year’s bill was five hundred and something. I wonder if his five year figure is incorrect or if there’s a lot of interest. In any case, he says he only has about two thousand free on credit and that he already has about six thousand, I think, on credit cards. I guess that would make his credit limit about eight thousand dollars, which is pretty low. I guess it’s high compared to the credit limits of the people he associates with.

Getting Together

Herbert wanted to do something Monday (today) for his birthday, but I already had tentative plans with Gonzales for that day. He considered doing it this weekend instead. Plans fell through with Gonzales, but my mom wants me to go out for the weekend. They’re having a bonfire. Linh-Nam asked me to go to Knott’s this weekend. I’ve talked to Jaysen and Roda about getting together Tuesday.
I’m going to my mom’s this weekend, but I’ll try to do something Friday night, too. Linh-Nam, I can’t go. Jaysen and Roda, are we gonna do something? And Alex, let me know if anything’s up with Barnes.

Lunch With Gemma

This morning was a sleepy morning. I woke around six needing to use the bathroom. Christine had talked to me so I answered her, went to the bathroom, and went back to sleep. Gem called me and woke me up around 9:30. We talked for a little bit, I IMed Christine with something, listened to a little music, and went back to sleep. Then, I woke up around 12:15 worried that I slept too late because Gemma was coming over at one. I got ready in time, and we went and had Pho. It was tasty! Then, Gemma and I went to some popular, teenage (crappy) clothing store to exchange something. After that, we spent a couple hours in Bed, Bath, and Beyond. We just messed around, and I had a lot of fun. I didn’t have time to give her the picture she wanted so I’ll have to some other time. She also wants a copy of Aishiteru ze Baby. It had been a long time since we had hung out. I’m glad we got the chance.

Bowling & Norm’s

I didn’t think I’d be able to go with yesterday because my dad couldn’t leave the house, but I found out that Herbert was in Long Beach picking up Hanah so he picked me up, too. We met at Gable House and bowled two games. The people there were myself, Hanah, Herbert, Jaysen, Joseph, Ryo, Genevizzle (heh), Jon, Gian, Chris, Linh-Nam, Thao, Judy, Kamal, and Russell. I (CAPT SEXY) played with Hanah (JEWTASTIC), Herbert (SUP COMMANDER), and Jaysen (JAYZN INVAZN). The results were as follows:

Name Game 1 Game 2
JEWTASTIC 77 109
SUP COMMANDER 100 106
JAYZN INVAZN 22 54
CAPT SEXY 82 61

I had never bowled before, but I had a great time. I obviously didn’t do wonderfully, but it doesn’t take long to get the hang of it. Afterwards, I played a game of DDR with the Commander. It had been a while since I had played so that was cool. I tried to burn a CD for Joseph, which failed due to one picture multiple times. A seventh grade white kid tried to latch on to me/us and wouldn’t stop talking. What the fuck is wrong with people who try to befriend strangers? Losers.
Then we made our way to Red Lobster in Lakewood but ended up going to Norm’s. On the way, Jaysen had to go home so Joseph, who was driving with him, got out at a red light and came up to our car. By the way, Herbert is a horrible driver. It’s a good thing he had Hanah to read maps and William to watch for cars. At a red light, there were people selling paintings on the corner. Joseph tried to get their attention and asked if they were selling food. They didn’t really respond so Joseph began yelling “comer” and making eating gestures. It was pretty funny. We called David, and he met us at Norm’s. The bathroom was disgusting there. But the food wasn’t bad. I had a steak, baked potato, breaded shrimp, a salad, chicken noodle soup, and a shrimp cocktail. By 11:00 Herbert was already needing to get home, and Hanah’s mom came to wait for us to finish eating. I either needed a ride home or needed a house to sleep at. Hanah’s mom offered to take me home, but Herbert agreed to as well. We also discussed religion a bit. I like Hanah’s mom and Joseph. While Herbert was driving Joseph and me home, I talked about Christianity with Joseph. Despite his lack of math skills, heh, Joseph is really smart, and I enjoy talking with him. I need to meet up with him again soon to continue talking. I also need to get Mr. Show from him and give him some photos. It was a very fun evening.
And I want some bowling shoes.

My House

A few weeks ago, my dad was told by the city to put a new roof on the house. He eventually got the permit (whew). Paco said he could do it. Homer and Jamie (a friend of Harold and Homer) said they’d help. Jamie’s… er… in a bit of legal trouble, but that’s another story. They haven’t really done much on the roof, but when painting a wall, Homer decided to turn some boards around because the outside of them were so fucked up. Well, the wood was rotting from termites.

Now we have reached out to the roofersdublin.net roof repairs and they’re replacing a whole section of the wall in my dining room. Also, my dad gave Harold his two week notice the other day. Harold told my dad that he has decided to move on as if my dad hadn’t already told him to leave. Sort of weird. Paco and Homer will share the back room unless Homer prefers to live in the garage, which he might. They both do all sorts of labor, but Paco also cooks. It’s cheaper for us to buy enough food to feed everyone and let Paco cook it than it is for us to buy just for ourselves and cook it ourselves. Paco also brings the food to us. Eating Paco’s food is much healthier than anything we’d eat on our own. It’s pretty cool actually.

My dad’s noticed that I don’t like being around him. He said that when he talks, I just get bored and roll my eyes or something and when he tells a joke, I usually don’t laugh. I don’t do it on purpose, but it’s true that I act like that. It’s not that I don’t like him, but I he’s just annoying, and I can’t really enjoy being with him.
That’s home life.

Thirteen more days of high school

It seems a lot of people liked that entry about my dad talking to me. I don’t think I’ll mention what he taught me today.
The Calculus II test was moved to Monday. This pleases me. During Calculus I, I played Warfare Incorporated. I spent most of English talking to Jasmine and others about drama. I’ll get to that review damn it. Government sucked. I have to redo all the finances for the business plan. My slot at the convention is from 9:30 to 10:00, and I work with Ernie. I’m glad to be working with someone who understands the product fully.
During physics, I hung out in the counselling center. I played some arcade games after lunch, talked to Daniel, and then, eventually, went to McDonald’s with Herbert, Jaysen, and William. Afterwards, I went to McVay’s room and talked with Mrs. McVay, Ms. McVay, Hanah, Hanah’s mom, David, Alex, Herbert, and Jaysen. Fun people. Everybody left besides the McVays so I stayed talking with them until 6 o’clock or so. I think there should be more of them. 🙁

School, Physics, Condoms, Lynx

Calculus II was average today. During English, Wilbert and I argued with Russell. He didn’t believe us that the United States controls the weather with machines. He still thinks nature is responsible for the weather. Hah! During government I hung out in Ramey’s with “muh peepz.” Shaun came to Spanish again, and Bravo talked to him and let him to stay. I couldn’t stopped giggling at the new vocabulary word “negar.” During team sports, we played tennis again, which was pretty funny. I tried using two rackets today. And Alex got hit in the head with a tennis ball. Accidently, sure…
Physics grades were posted. I have 100% in the class without lab or final. That’s pretty cool. I can’t not pass the class at this point. I probably won’t, but I’d like to study optics over the summer.
Javier couldn’t meet today, so we’re going to meet after school Monday.
I guess the idea of prom triggered a father algorithm in my dad because he decided to talk to me about how condoms can fail and told me to take some Saturday. It wasn’t a big talk luckily. While talking about prom, he said “you better bring some rubbers.” I told him that I don’t carry condoms for the off chance that I have sex. He then told me that they don’t always work and that he’ll buy me some tomorrow.
It seemed a bit odd to me. I know that stereotypically a lot guys think prom is the night they have to have sex, but I don’t think that’s really the case. I’m not looking to have sex at all. Besides, I don’t see the chances of having sex much higher during prom than any other time. It was kind of funny, but I don’t mind. I’ll take ’em if he wants me to, and I’m obviously not embarrassed about the conversation.
I tried batteries I knew to be good in my Lynx, and it wouldn’t turn on. I guess it’s dead. =(
There’s no homework tonight. I plan the following:

  • Finish Excel sheet for final lab
  • Send lab sheet to Cheryl
  • Collect calculus assignments for Jon
  • Make notes sheet for calculus test
  • Write review of Jane Eyre

Fifteen more days of high school

Very tired. I slept duing Calc II and talked during Calc I. God Matthew is funny. I lovez him. We worked on IDP during break, and then I slept. I got a 7 out of 19 on my physics test, beating both Joseph and Jon. Hahz! We went to Starbucks again where I used up my gift card. Russell took off while Jaysen was in the bathroom in order to beat him back. I went with him because, well, I wanted to win! TAing for Gonzales was fun. He’s going to talk to his wife about getting me a job building computers over the summer. And I’m going with Andrei tomorrow to see Javier. It’d be cool to get that MCP this summer. I have to go pick up my tux tomorrow after hanging out with Andrei and Javier. Dad okayed me going to a friend’s after prom. I installed Docs to go finally on my Clie. And 152 found Jane Eyre mp3s for me! Okay. Bye.

Tuesday

First, I forgot to mention that I saw Bravo at Starbucks on Monday.
After school today I hung out with Roda, Abril, Amanda, and Achala. We went to McDonald’s, Ikea, Starbucks, and Jolleybee’s. The food was weird at Jolleybee’s. And that might be spelled incorrectly; I don’t feel like checking. But they would at least break my hundred. Starbucks wouldn’t. It was fun hanging out with them. I’d write more, but I’m really tired.
The play seemed much better today. I understand the story now! I hung out with Avi a lot. He distracts from the play a lot, lol. Jennifer Damm was there. Nice to see her again. K bye.
