Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (damn, what a name!) was a really cool movie. It takes place in the 1930s. Sky Captain, or Joe, and Polly, a newspaper reporter, travel around the world to determine the reason for recent robot attacks. I think the tone of the movie is great. The 1930s New York City is very cool… the planes from the era… it even reminded me of some of the old time radio shows. Mixed in with things from the era are futuristic things of course. There are many types of robots in use, but they’re industrial and mechanical looking, as was common in older ideas of robots rather than the more modern “smooth” look. The airships in the movie are fantastic in my opinion, and I’ve always had a fascination with such things (I still dream about the gardens from Final Fantasy VIII from time to time). There’s a British-controlled aerial Mobile Landing Strip that’s pretty cool. There are also amphibious planes, which are planes and submarines. Sky Captain also has a lot of references to other movies. I’m sure I missed a great deal of them. The graphics are superb. I’ve heard people complain about the amount of CG, but I thought it was great. The plot wasn’t great, but the whole movie had a sort of corny feel to it because the movie had an old-fashioned tone. This made the plot fitting. Anyways, I think a lot of people will hate this movie so don’t take my word for it. I just thought it was pretty cool.

Sky Captain with Nam, Chris, Cheryl, and Gian

I have to speculate that God himself did make us into corresponding shapes like puzzle pieces from the clay.
I saw Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow last night. I got to the theater first and bought tickets for myself, Gian, and Cheryl. When Chris got there, he bought his ticket and one for Linh-Nam. When Cheryl and Gian got there, they went to buy food so we gave them their tickets and Nam’s ticket, and Chris and I got seats. The movie was good, but I’ll put a review in its own entry.
I saw Jon inside. He didn’t say anything, but he did tap my ass as he walked past me. After the movie, the five us went to Islands for dinner. We ate and then talked for hours.
Come down now, they will say.
We talked about all sorts of stuff after dinner. Perhaps we talked about sex and masturbation a bit too loud. And I was talking racist in front of a black woman. Whoops. I think Cheryl was taking photos of our crotches under the table. She also said she had something I could borrow for my Princess Toadstool costume. I didn’t really understand what it was, but yay! Gian peed once before dinner and twice during. Amazing.
Don’t wake me, I plan on sleeping in.
I had my leg inbetween Nam’s, and then I put my arm around him, but he slid over to get away. I sort of fell over in the seat and tried grabbing his ass so he got all the way out of the booth, pulling me over on my side. I was sort of upside down now, and when I looked up, I was eye level with his crotch. He jumped back. Good times.
“I can’t accept that it’s over and will block the door like a goalie tending the net in the third quarter of a tied-game rivalry so just say how to make it right, and I swear I’ll do my best to comply. Tell me, am I right to think that there could be nothing better than making you my bride and slowly growing old together?” “I feel I must interject here. You’re getting carried away feeling sorry for yourself with these revisions and gaps in history…”
While talking about masturbation, someone came up with going to sperm banks to masturbate. And I demonstrated with a ketchup bottle for Cheryl. Plus, the idea of a “poop buddy” is very amusing. Or maybe just the phrase is. At around 12:45, we left, and Linh-Nam took me back to his place where my dad picked me up. I got home around 1:30, fooled around, and then… wrote this.
It was really nice to spend my last night before UCI with such great friends. It’s funny… I really got a lot closer to the four of them this past year. I’ll miss them. I really hope we don’t drift too much although I know we will. Still… I didn’t see much of them this summer, and we’re still alright. Gian, I’m guessing you’ll read this before Cheryl does so make sure she plans whatever it is she’s planning for October! I’ll miss ya guys.

Power

The power went out last night. Dad didn’t pay the bill. After a lot of confusion between him and the Edison today, the power came on at 4:14 this afternoon. I didn’t have power in my laptop either because the power went out while I was sleeping, and Zot was still on. On the subject of computers, Lambcow still doesn’t work.

Joe’s Computer, Bowling, Mario, Risk 2210 AD

I just got back from Joseph’s house. Yesterday, I woke up worried around nine, hoping to find Office XP. Linh-Nam was leaving for work but left a copy of it under his trash can in his front yard. Joe’s dad picked me up, we picked Office XP (thanks Nam!), and then went to a small store to buy a new stick of RAM. We bought the computer in to have them install it and test it for us. Joseph’s dad left his credit card at home so we waited at the store for him. Then, we were off to Fry’s.
On a tangent, I read that it’s believed that wihthin five years, images displayed on a monitor will be identical to the real image to the human eye at 20/20 vision. Of course, this is when stationary because perspectives won’t move on a monitor.
Anyways, when we got to Fry’s, I checked in the RAM, my laptop, my camera, and the Clie. The young lady doing this was pretty nice, and we talked while in line. She asked me about my name and then showed me her name, which she said was Ukrainian. She said she couldn’t pronounce it correctly, which is funny because I can’t pronounce mine correctly either. She went to CSUDH for one class four years ago. I looked familiar to her, but we couldn’t find any connection.
The guy we talked to about returning the RAM was the same guy we saw before. He asked me if I got the system working yet, and I told him that I did. Joe wanted to buy a backpack while we there, and it worked out to be the exact same price as the RAM we were returning.
Back at Joseph’s house, his dad made us omelettes. I got the computer up and running. Dragging windows around is very choppy, and I’m not sure why, but everything’s working now.
Jaysen picked us up, and we went to Gable House. I did alright, I guess. Jaysen beat us twice, and Joe came in third once. That’s quite odd. Here are the results:

Real Name Entered Name Game 1 Game 2 Game 3
Joseph CHIEFNIGGY 95 71 89
Peter THE USER 64 83 64
Jaysen JAYZN INVAZN 63 87 106

Then, we checked out the WWII store near La Capilla. It was pretty cool. They had an awesome, huge Nazi banner. It was $350 though 🙁 Dinner was tasty… I had two chicken tacos.
After dinner, we went back to Joseph’s house. For a while, we took turns playing Super Mario Bros. while watching the Super Mario Super Show. I made it to Koopa in world 8-4, but he killed me. We decided to play Risk 2210 AD, and while we were setting up, Alex came over. Joseph, Jaysen, Alex, and I started to play. Jaysen had to leave around the second year (Risk 2210 AD has a limit of five turns, called years). We had to change rooms because people were going to bed. Then Josh took over for Jaysen. I wrote him a cool note.
To whom it may concern:
Please excuse Josh for being tired in class. He was up late playing Risk with 3 CAMS alumni.
Peter Anargirou
C/O ’04

I told him to give it to Mr. Jett. I don’t know if he will, but I can hope, lol. During year four Josh had to go to sleep. We left his forces on the map to defend themselves, but did not give that team any new troops, and did not control it aggressively. The final scores were as follows:

Player Score Rank
Peter 110 1st
Jaysen / Joshua / Rebels 40 2nd
Joseph 32 3rd
Alex 25 4th

I had a great time. It was so much fun. And I swear, I think a lot like Josh. He’s cool too. I guess this was the last time I’ll see Joe or Alex for a while. We finished playing around two o’clock this morning, and Alex gave me a ride home.
And I forgot to mention that while playing, I came up with a name for my cat. Mao Tse-tung. Or Mao for short. Yes. That’s a great fucking name.

Gonzales, Joe, Linh-Nam, Gian, Chris

I’m very tired. Yesterday, I went to Fry’s with Gonzales to pick up more memory. I visit Fry’s often now, it seems. When we got done, it was around four o’clock so we went to a Korean BBQ place that we’ve been to before. It’s all you can eat and very tasty. I was full for a long time after that. I put the RAM in and turned on the computer, but it didn’t work. I didn’t fool around with any yet because I had Joe’s computer to worry about.
Today, Joe’s dad called me, making very little sense. He wanted Joseph to come be with the computer basically. He was dropped off at my house, and we went to Linh-Nam’s. We got there around 12:30. All sorts of stuff was going wrong. We eventually got the BIOS updated, but it still was working like poop. Linh-Nam had to get going around 3:30 so we called Jon. He didn’t have any advice, and was unable to get together but recommended we call Ryo. Ryo wasn’t home and was probably still in school. We called Gian, and he said we could come over. Linh-Nam gave Joe and I ride over there.
Gian and I fooled around (we fooled around together zomg hhahahhahaa) with Joe’s computer and his computer for a while. Eventually, we got pretty convinced that the RAM in Joe’s was bad. Gian drove us to Joe’s house to pick up his HDD, and then we had a Taco Bell lunch. Windows 98 didn’t want to see the CD-ROM drive so we decided to upgrade Windows. However, he lacked any Windows CDs besides 95. We called Jon, but he wasn’t home. We called Ryo… Joe was pretty funny talking to his family, but Ryo wasn’t home. But Chris was! So… we went to Chris’s house. Chris joined the party! Windows XP obtained! Yes, the day was truly like a video game. Grand Computer Repair (like GTA only so much better)! Throughout the day we had been in Long Beach, Carson, Harbor City, Torrance, and Wilmington. Okay, so back at Gian’s house it was like a zomg computer repair party. And we watched the Super Mario World cartoon followed by some Queer Eye. Chris’s XP CD was only an upgrade but Gian came to the rescue with 95 CD. So all was well. Since Joe’s computer wouldn’t boot from the CD, we installed XP on Joe’s HDD in Gian’s computer. Then, we put it back in Joe’s computer and everything worked fine when using Gian’s RAM. However, it wouldn’t boot with his own RAM. So, we need to exchange RAM… get a XP Home activation crack… and install Office. Quite the adventure. Quite fun. I like how that was the first time I had been to Gian’s house, lol. Around 9:30, Gian drove Joe and I to Joe’s house. I had some soda, was given cheese cake, and driven home by Joe’s mom. Joseph’s dad’s going to pick me up at 10:00 tomorrow. This is some sort of anti-Peter-sleep conspiracy. We’re going to go to some small computer store, get new RAM, and ask them to try it in the computer there. Then, we’ll go to Fry’s and return the old RAM. Then, bowling and dinner. Yes. If Jaysen can pick us up. Yes.

Computer of d00m

[9/12][21:11:47] <@LostBurner> what computer are you working on, Joe’s?
[9/12][21:12:39] <@TU> Well, Joe has the legal ownership of it. I have physical possession of it. But I think it simply belongs to Satan now.
I created a boot floppy in an attempt to reinstall an OS, but I can’t get the computer to boot off of the floppy drive. It goes to the hard drive no matter what. Now, sometimes when I try to boot it, things power up, but nothing is displayed. However, after clearing the CMOS (and letting it sit at least a minute since the last shutdown), it always displays something even if the boot fails. I found a BIOS update that was released with the following description: “Fixed some DRAM can’t boot only after clear CMOS.” That’s not exactly phrased wonderfully, but that might be describing what’s going on. However, I can’t even get to the floppy. I also don’t trust the computer to stay stable long enough for me to flash the BIOS. Linh-Nam’s been keeping me sane while I complain to him. This is stressing me out a lot, and I’m barely handling it. He said I could bring it to his house today, and he’ll help me with it. I hope we get somewhere.

Life’s Pretty Tuff

I accidently saved this post as a draft instead of publishing it. Here it is:
After the next couple days, I don’t want to be anywhere near another computer of Joe’s ever again. It seems like the computer stops somewhere before the memory test, while displaying the name of the BIOS and such. Sometimes, what’s displayed it cut off (mid-phrase). It doesn’t like booting right after being shut down. You have to wait a bit (2 minutes, perhaps). The first motherboard and CPU weren’t compatible with eachother so this is the second motherboard. God, it couldn’t be bad too can it? And of course, I don’t have a working OS installed on my HDD. I’ll have to get boot floppies and find a CD after I wake up.
I have to mail those health forms in or something. Or at least look at them. I think it may have said they have to be in before classes start. If that’s the case, I can turn them in by hand after getting to school. I’m looking forward to school (but not class).
I have a strong urge to play classic Super Mario Bros.
Joe thinks I should be the Princess for Halloween, with Toni and Jay as Mario and Luigi respectively.
I’m going to sleep now again. Sleep is good, but it’s always followed by that crappy awakening. I’ll write soon about my musical dream of antisemitic aliens and my dream about the tigers, flying, brain-washed people, zombies, secret store for the elite, and Samuel. I hope I don’t forget these.

Tony / Coco

I told Tony that I’d call by the end of the week. I just got off the phone with him. Basically, I told him that my dad doesn’t have the money, won’t talk to me about it, and just gets mad at me when I bring it up. I apologized for him being uncooperative, and told him I didn’t know what else I could do at this point. He told me that if talking doesn’t work, he’ll have to take my dad to court and will ask for money than he’s asking for now. I told him that I’d let my dad know… I don’t think Dad’s ever gonna do anything though. Tony thanked me and asked me to call him if anything changes.
